Steelers rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson left Tuesday's practice for tests on his ankle and head coach Mike Tomlin was visibly concerned about his status.
He appeared to sustain an ankle injury while being tackled on a jet sweep during a short-yardage drill.
Tomlin said the injury to Wilson was unfortunate just as veteran quarterback Russell Wilson was taking the field for position drills.
"Roman hurt his ankle in a tackle and they are evaluating him," Tomlin said. "To have more information on the extent of the injury and how long he could be out."
Russell Wilson has been dealing with a strained calf and spent the first week of camp on the sideline at Tomlin's urging.
Roman Wilson, 23, was a third-round pick (84th overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Michigan. He's expected to play a significant role for the Steelers, who traded Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers.
He caught 48 passes for 789 yards and 12 touchdowns for the national champion Wolverines in 2023.
